The global hemp fibre industry is poised for growth, but it urgently needs modern, efficient test methods and standards to become a major commodity in regional and international markets. The ASTM D37.07 Hemp Fibre Working Group (ILS project #1862) is undertaking vital work to test, compare and prioritise methods for measuring fibre length and width, with the goal of integrating them into international standards.
To fund this important project, FIHO and ASTM are launching a Silent Auction aimed at raising at least $20,000 to support the ILS #1862 feasibility study. We’re calling on everyone in the hemp industry — and those who want to see it thrive — to contribute. You can help by donating products or services for the auction, such as hemp garments, books, unique hemp-related items, farm tours, hemp seed or oil, and more. Cash donations are also welcome and will be acknowledged with a gift and certificate of gratitude.
Beyond fundraising, this initiative will drive education and awareness about hemp raw materials and finished products already available in the market. The auction will be hosted on 32auctions.com, with a tentative launch on 22 July 2025.
